Muggs vs Sick Jacken Mashup MP3!
As you may or may not know, Soul Assassins do a lot of touring. That might sound real exciting and glamorous, but the reality is that there’s a lot of down time that you spend sitting in your hotel room staring at a picture of a fuckin seagull or some such shit. So when I get bored, I like to try and work on music and make some kind of quick mashup or beat when I’m sitting around. The problem is that I usually don’t have access to turntables, so I gotta use only my recording program on my laptop (Cubase) which doesn’t have any way to “auto-align” songs or beatmatch like Ableton does. I have to use my dj skills to listen, chop, edit and kind of “freestyle” beatmatch-edit, with nothing locked to a tempo, if that makes sense.
Here is a track I did while on the road using Muggs vs Sick Jacken’s “Unorthodox Blocks”, and the 80s breakdance-electro classic, Mann Parrish’s “Boogie Down Bronx”. I spelled Mann Parrish’s name wrong on the graphic, but look, I’m busy and I don’t have time to be makin mashups AND spellin shit right! The important part is that the song’s dope. I wanted to put Jack & Cynic on a beat that was dark and sinister, yet danceable, something I could slip in a dance club set and peoeple wouldn’t realize they’re listening to hardcore underground, militant hip-hop, and keep dancing. Naturally, a breakdance-electro track falls into that realm cuz all that shirt was hard, like Electric Kingdom and Al Nafiysh. Something hardcore and dark that still makes you wanna get your uprock on. So dust off your Puma’s with the fat laces and get ready for battle!
As always, the music is FREE, as it should be. Live Fast, Die Free.
